East Africa University marks a historic milestone — 25 years of pioneering accessible, high-quality higher education across Puntland State and the broader Horn of Africa region.
East Africa University (EAU) is proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary as one of Somalia's most transformative academic institutions. Since its founding in 1999 in Bosaso, Puntland State, EAU has grown from a single campus to a network of 8 campuses spanning the Horn of Africa.
A Journey of Impact
Over the past 25 years, EAU has awarded thousands of degrees in disciplines ranging from Business Administration and Law to Computer Science, Education and Health Sciences. Our graduates are now serving as doctors, lawyers, government officials, technology entrepreneurs, and community leaders — contributing to the rebuilding and development of Somali society.
Message from the Rector
"Education is not just about filling minds with facts; it is about igniting the spirit of inquiry, nurturing compassion, and empowering the next generation to solve the greatest challenges of our time," said Dr. Abdullaahi Ali Ugaas, Rector of East Africa University. "As we celebrate 25 years, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering world-class education that serves the evolving needs of our society and the East African region."
Looking Ahead
As EAU enters its next quarter-century, the university is investing in online learning infrastructure, research partnerships, and expanded scholarship programmes — ensuring that financial barriers never prevent deserving students from accessing higher education.
